About UsMWB is a not-for-profit company set up by Dr. Phyllis SantaMaria and Andy Robb to realise their vision of improving the capacity of MFIs by providing first class practical training and placement opportunities for financial professionals. Andy RobbHaving started work in the City of London, Andy has spent the last 20 years building his property business in Bristol. In 2004 he set up Fund Their Future Ltd (FTF), a charity to channel profits from his business into the MF sector. FTF invests directly in MFIs, supports the Microfinance Club UK, funds MWB and Mobile Microfinance Ltd, a company to promote the adoption of mobile telephone banking in MF. He is a director of the above companies and is a member of the Steering Committee of the UK Microfinance Club. Dr Phyllis SantaMaria
Five years as a US Peace Corps Volunteer in Guatemala and Kenya inspired Phyllis to engage in promoting life-long learning through international development, education, interactive multimedia and for the last seven years, microfinance. Twice she has been a UK national coordinator, first for BBC TV's Domesday Project in the late 80s, a forerunner of the Internet, and recently for the UK National Committee for 2005, the UN Year of Microcredit. As chief of mission of PlaNet Finance UK she worked with microfinance capacity building in India, China, Africa and Eastern Europe. She is a director of Microfinance without Borders and is on the Steering Committee for the UK Microfinance Club.
